We’re incredibly proud to share that Newsweek has spotlighted Guadalupe Regional Medical Center’s Birthing Center in an article titled “Inside the Texas Hospital Where Maternity Care Runs Like a Ballet.”

If you step into our Birthing Center, you might just see what Newsweek did—graceful, coordinated movement from a team that knows exactly what to do and when to do it. “It’s just like watching a ballet,” said Chantel Ewald, GRMC’s Birthing Center Clinical Director. “Everybody orchestrating what they need to do to take care of the patient, to take care of the baby, and to have a good outcome.”

Thanks to this dedication, GRMC earned five ribbons in Newsweek’s 2025 ranking of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals—the highest score possible. Even more impressive? The 2025 rankings were based on tougher standards than ever before. As an independent, nonprofit hospital, GRMC has the freedom to adapt quickly, stay at the forefront of evidence-based care, and truly listen to what our patients need.

“When patients come here, they feel like they’re treated as a person, not a number,” said Lauren Riggs, GRMC Birthing Center Director. “They get those extra little touches that make all the difference.”

From childbirth education and breastfeeding support to compassionate care during life’s most vulnerable moments, our team goes above and beyond—and Newsweek took notice.

We’re so grateful to our incredible nurses, physicians, and leadership team for creating a family-first culture that makes this level of care possible. Read the full story on Newsweek HERE and come see why so many families trust GRMC with life’s most special arrivals.
