Antonio Alvarado, MD is a board-certified nephrologist and internal medicine physician. Dr. Alvarado is a San Antonio native and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with honors before completing his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. 

Dr. Alvarado then relocated to Chicago and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the acclaimed McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University. During his time there, Dr. Alvarado received several awards, including Community Health Clinic’s Resident of the Year. He remained at Northwestern for his fellowship in Nephrology and was honored with The Gerald Grumet Award for Best Resident Teacher and The Department of Medicine’s Nephrology Fellowship Teaching Award.  

In addition to providing patients with a full range of kidney services, Dr. Alvarado is published in several medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Kidney International, and the American Journal of Transplantation. He has also presented nephrology research at numerous conferences, including The American Transplant Congress. Additionally, Dr. Alvarado has been active in community service and has provided medical care and nephrology outreach to underprivileged communities in India and Honduras.
